Sault Wesleyan Church Nursery Program

Who is it for?

All children ages birth through 3 are welcome to learn and play in our church nursery.  Children ages 3 and up can participate in our Children’s Ministries.  To ensure that our nursery is the safest environment possible, only pre-screened, scheduled nursery workers are allowed to remain in the nursery with the children.

How does it work?

Each child who stays in the nursery at Sault Wesleyan Church must be checked in using our tag-in/tag-out system and must have a Child Registration Form on file.  All regular attendees will have personalized tags to ensure that only the parent or another authorized adult is allowed to remove the child from the nursery.  Visiting children will have visitors’ tags and will need to be signed in and out in addition to the normal check-in procedures.  In addition, each child will be assigned a specific number, which will be placed on the main screen in the auditorium if a parent or authorized adult needs to attend to their child during the service.

During the service, your child will be participating in playtime, learning times, activity times, and snack times.  They will, at all times, be supervised by at least 2 adults who have been screened and trained to care for young children.  We strive to provide the safest environment possible for each child who participates in our nursery program.  Because safety is our number one priority, we do not allow anyone into our nursery who is not a pre-screened and scheduled worker.

What if I don’t want to leave my child?

We understand that some days a parent may be unable to leave their child, either for the child’s comfort or that of the parent.  In order to accommodate these situations we strive to provide a “cry room” for parents to comfort small children who become upset during the service.  The cry room is not intended as an alternative to nursery care; it is a space for a parent to calm a child and then return to the service.  We encourage parents to consider placing children in our nursery, but understand that a nursery setting isn’t right for every family.

How can I get involved?

If you have a desire to work with infants and toddlers, please let us know so that we can get you involved in our ministry.  Nursery workers need to complete the Volunteer Registration Form and will need to complete training and background screening before being allowed to work with children at Sault Wesleyan Church.  If you have questions about getting involved or about leaving your child in our nursery, please contact our nursery director or pastoral staff.
